Thai Massage Residential Retreat
to Chiang Mai, Thailand
26 October-5 November 2017
60 NCBTMB, Florida & Louisiana State Continuing Education hours
Join us in this 11 day/10 night residential retreat in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and immerse yourself in a culture that made healing an art form.
Thai Massage is a precious gift of Thailand that is encircling the world, and Chiang Mai is the home of the northern style of Thai Massage. Centuries of masters have lived, practiced and shared their knowledge in this ancient city. Connect with this lineage and you will feel their wisdom and experience supporting you in your work.
The restoration of balance and the removal of energy blocks are the ways Thai Massage heals the body. Thai Massage is more preventative than curative for according to the Thai people, 'the absence of illness is the best blessing'. Thai works toward balance at all levels--physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, and the practitioner receives the same benefits as the recipient. Over these eleven days, you will give and receive Thai massage and learn to enhance your connection with yourself and others, developing into a more powerful and effective healing channel.
We are honored to have with us as a special guest instructor Jack Chaiya. Jack is the son of our dear teacher Mama Lek Chaiya and taught with her for years at her Nerve Touch School near the Thapae Gate in Chiangmai. For the past several years Jack has introduced our retreat participants to his style based on the Nerve Touch techniques. This year for the first time he will teach an entire sequence from his level 2 class.
Thai Massage would not be the same without the body-mind-spirit connection, and excursions will include visits to sacred sites, including Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, one of the most revered temples in Thailand. It is approximately 10 miles north of the city.
Our Thailand retreat will also coincide with the festival of Loy Krathong. This traditional festival honors the goddess of rivers and waterways. Elaborate constructs with flowers, incense and candles are floated down the rivers, a magical site. Also coinciding with Loy Krathong is the festival of Yi Peng, during which paper lanterns are released delicately into the sky.
November is one of the best times of year, weather-wise, to visit Chiang Mai. The rainy season typically runs through October, so November is the beginning of the cool season. Expect 80s in the days and 60s in the nights on average.

Thai massage: Metta: The Philosophy and Practice of Universal Love
“Thai Massage – the Art of Mindfulness in Action – multi-dimensional movement with healing intention.
I am still afraid to open to divine source and be a channel for healing, but I am more encouraged to do so on a daily basis. Very loving and non-judgmental support from teachers and the group. Connection—I am you and you are me in the dance of breaths. When there is connection and trust, I open and let go. Let go of tension, worries, chatter and I am present in the moment. Even when I lose connection, I can always come back and re-establish it and deepen it. It is my choice. Thank you.”
"I am re-integrating now after being multi-dimensionally stretched inside out & upside down during this transformational retreat. I learned so much about abun-dance, love & sharing. Thanks Sacred Bodywork, Dennis & Jairo and all the amazing people who shared their beautiful touch with me." _BR
“This is a beautiful ancient ritual that makes me forget about daily routines that our society stamped on us. Thai massage is like a spiritual journey that puts your mind into the body and actually makes it feel what’s going on inside that beautiful mechanism of cells and neurons. Very awakening experience and I’m not surprised that it’s been around for over 2500 years. God bless Dr. Shivago. I feel his presence in my being now. It’s almost like a shamanic journey that makes you be present, feel the heartbeat; listen to the breath and progress.
My retreat group is such a beauty! Every single soul is so blessed and free. I have learned a lot from each of you. It opens so many possibilities and creates a bond that is unique with every single touch, with any new soul. Namaste!” _RS
“Thai for me is a connection between the spiritual and the physical body. I used to think before that Thai was a really deep massage because that is what I learned in school. So I never was into working with that, but now I can see how different and powerful it can be because it has the power to change people’s lives, introducing a new level of spirituality. Thanks for introducing me to this amazing experience of peace and love.” _AF
“Thai massage changed/shifted my perspective on massage. I was at the point on that I was stuck with my massage practice. I have been feeling quite drained and not grounded. I didn’t want to touch any more people and I was confused as to how I can learn to channel energy so I am not depleting mine.
Thai massage brought me back to realignment. I realized I do not have to put so much force in to get something back. I really stopped and looked inside last night—to see what I needed, what I have learned and what is shifting inside.
I learned from the class that when I am not grounded, my wall goes up. I become fierce like a warrior. I have to remember that balance is the key. I also re-learned that you do not need to be a certified LMT to heal and help. Set your intentions with love and honor and trust the rest will come. I have so much to learn, and I am so excited.”
"An amazing retreat with amazing healers....I am blessed and grateful to be able to share this sacred space with all of you. Love to all always :)”_ RT
We hope you can join us this year in Paradise.
